About Wellington Petanque Club
Wellington Petanque club is a sports/social club. The game of petanque is quite competitive but played in a very sociable atmosphere. Almost everyone can play because at its basic level it no more than throwing 700 gram steel balls between 6 and 10 metres. However the more you play the more you realise that most other players are better than you so you endeavour to be a little more accurate when throwing the boule. Some have found that within a month or two they are playing for the club in the Devon League which we currently can claim to be supporting as we are at the bottom. Everyone is welcome to come along for some gentle exercise. During a typical afternoon you will walk over a mile and lift and throw about 100 kilos of steel.
