45 schools in Somerset now follow the real PE programme including Blackbrook and Bishops Henderson in Tone who recently booked their whole school staff training. North Town, St James, Staplegrove and St Georges are some of the schools in the area that have been delivering real PE for over a year and are well on the road to high quality PE delivery across the school.
Below are some quotes from Somerset teachers who have completed the training.
In my 23 years of teaching, this is the best course with the biggest impact I have ever been on …..With real PE you come away with a new, better, more effective way of teaching fun lessons with graduated outcomes, where the children take responsibility for their learning. It is inclusive, has positive impact not just on your teaching but on the children's progression and you get lessons plans for every class……It's an inspiring package and I will never teach PE in any other way again (Lucy Ray - St James Church School)
Real PE has transformed the way I think and deliver PE in school. The children are thoroughly engaged in the lessons which are challenging, enjoyable and with a much needed focus on the fundamental movement skills. I love the themed approach in KS1 which takes the children to a circus or shooting off into outer space and sometimes the children don't even realise they're participating in a PE lesson. Each lesson is really easy to follow with a clear structure allowing any teacher to feel truly confident with their delivery. (Damian Lake – St Georges Catholic School)
