Love To Pedal
Love to Pedal - Chair based cycling with virtual bike rides
This adapted cycling opportunity allows people to enjoy moving at home using pedal exercisers and a choice of ten to thirty minute bike rides that have been filmed across Somerset to bring it to life!
SASP is working with a number of partners across Somerset to reach those most impacted by Covid-19 to offer the Love to Pedal at home opportunity. Partner organisations include Primary Care Networks (PCNs) who host Health Coaches supporting people one to one and in groups across Somerset, Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy, the Stroke Service, Village Agents, Occupational Therapy at Musgrove Park Hospital and Integrated Rehabilitation Therapy teams.
A number of pedal exercisers are available for you or a family member to loan alongside our virtual bike rides. Our rides can be accessed through the below links, via the Somerset Activity and Sports Partnership YouTube Channel or a DVD can be requested should this be the preferred option. A participant pack accompanies the pedals and provides all the information needed to get started and to enjoy the experience.
SASP's Love to Pedal at home opportunity can be enjoyed through this loan scheme but it can also be enjoyed by anyone with a pedal exerciser or static exercise bike at home who is able to access the rides via a smart TV, laptop, tablet or phone for example. Being able to virtually cycle along in Somerset countryside (that may otherwise be inaccessible), can provide people with a sense of familiarity, motivation and perhaps spark some fond memories also.
