Move 2 Independence Activities

What are the options?

Choice is important when becoming more active again, here's a list of what's available with Move 2 Independence! Once a referral has been made, SASP will contact participants to discuss what activity(ies) they would like to try.

At Home:

Love to Pedal: Chair cycling using a lightweight, portable pedal and videos of bike rides of Somerset, available on the internet or in DVD format to bring it to life.

Walk Your Way: An adaptable walking opportunity encouraging walking movements at home or back outside when the time is right. Walks have been filmed across Somerset for you to sit or stand and march along to at home, but are also mapped and can be visited in-person. The videos can be accessed on the internet or on a DVD.

Move More with Bands: A chair or standing resource that takes you through a series of low impact exercises using a lightweight exercise band, targeting different parts of the body and keeping you strong and balanced to reduce your risk of falling.

SASP Take Time Videos: A collection of exercise videos on the internet, ranging from two mins, to an hour's full body routine, with seated and standing options available to suit all abilities and preferences.

Outside:

Somerset Health Walks: A free walking scheme led by volunteers across Somerset, offering a variety of walk levels, from beginner through to advanced. Health Walks are a great way of meeting new people!

ProActive Physical Activity on Referral: Your health professional can refer you to a leisure centre to receive a personally tailored exercise programme to support your rehabilitation following a hospital stay. This is a paid for scheme.

What’s next?

There will be an opportunity to discuss the programmes and resources available in more detail once a referral has been submitted and SASP will make contact. Please remind yourself of the referral process here
