About Move More Together

Move More Together is a programme designed to encourage inactive adults over 50 to get moving again through the support of a volunteer who can motivate, guide and of course, provide some friendly conversation!

The pandemic has had a major impact on physical activity levels and wellbeing for everyone, however for many people over 50, the enforcement of shielding made keeping active more difficult. Since restrictions have eased, many older adults would now like to become more active again, but access and confidence remain significant barriers.

Move More Together has been developed to improve older adults' confidence and ability to get moving again, to help them reap a range of physical and mental health benefits whilst offering a great social opportunity too. Volunteers can help to set up equipment, provide reassurance to try something new and accompany the participant as they take their first steps back to an active lifestyle.

Activities can take place at home, in the garden, outside and in community facilities. We understand that flexibility is key to finding an activity that is suitable for sometimes unpredictable health conditions.

Let Move More Together be the start of your journey to a healthier, happier and connected future

"I cannot believe the ways that having a volunteer has improved my life. I found myself actually wanting to leave the house!"

"I feel I can really appreciate and enjoy life again. I can enjoy living. The scheme is a life changer which changed my life in a very positive way and I think it is great."
