Our Impact 2023 - 2024

We are delighted to share with you our Impact Report for 2023 - 2024.

This year saw how we began to embed our work of our system wide, multi-agency strategy, Somerset Moves, across all levels of the system to reduce inequalities in physical activity across Somerset.

Our impact has been great, and the report highlights specific projects and programmes, and different approaches that we are taking to realise our vision achieving healthier and happier communities in Somerset through physical activity and sport.

Tackling inequalities has been the golden thread in 2023/24 for us across all levels of the system in Somerset.

  • We have been tackling inequalities directly with our communities through our programme delivery, from School Games to Health Walks , and campaigns, including Sloppy Slippers and Stronger4Longer;
  • We have been tackling inequalities by developing our workforce through our inclusion awareness and supporting those that face inequalities into the workforce; and
  • We have been tackling inequalities with our system leaders, by developing strong leadership and building strategic partnerships to better advocate for addressing inequalities and removing barriers to physical activity.

Find out more about how we have been tackling inequalities in 2023/24 in our Impact Report.

What's next?

Looking forward, we know there is still so much to do at both a strategic and granular level. Given this, as part of our system wide strategy, Somerset Moves, we will prioritise:

  • Supporting active places
  • Working collaboratively to embed physical activity and sport into health systems
  • Campaigns which challenge perception on who can be active and how
  • Developing system leadership
