Wednesday 3rd July 2019 - Secondary Athletics Event at Yeovil Athletics Track

Millfield School's Athletics track is undergoing major refurbishment during July and August, so this year's secondary athletics event has been moved to Yeovil Athletics Track. BA21 3DS

a) 1 track/2 field + relay

2 athletes per event from each school.
Athletes cannot run both the 800m and 1500m

Teams of 4 boys and 4 girls. Each athlete takes part in a run, throw, jump and sprint.

Qualification through area competitions.

Tri Golf

Years 3 - 4
Years 5 - 6

Teams of 10, 5 boys and 5 girls
Each team will do a carousel of 8 stations accumulating points at each station.

No qualification required.

Rounders

Years 7 - 10

Teams of 9 - 12 girls
Innings of 27 good balls.

Qualification through area competitions.

Secondary Sports Festival

Years 8 & 9

Schools may bring a maximum of 15 students, boys or girls. Activities will include: Soft Volleyball/ Spin Bike Challenge/ Fun Tennis/ Capture the Flag

Participants should be those who haven't represented their school at a school games level 2 competition event.

Maximum of 15 SEN pupils per school from any year group.

Children will take part in a carousel of cricket activities run by Somerset County Cricket and SASP staff.

Rounders

Years 5 - 6

9 in a team, max of 12 in a squad. Minimum of 4 girls playing.
1 innings of 18 good balls, 2 per batter.

3 teams per area to qualify.

Girls Softball Cricket

Years 7 & 8

Teams of 6
Everyone bowls & bats.

Limited to 12 teams
No qualification required.
Friendly festival.

Mini Red Tennis

Years 3 & 4

Teams of 4, 2 boys & 2 girls

Qualification through area competitions.

Transition Rugby and Teacher CPD

Year 6 only

Up to 10 boys or girls, plus a Teacher to engage in rugby CPD. The focus for this event is for Teachers to learn more about rugby and the children to be better prepared for the transition to Year 7 rugby.

No area qualification required.
This event will be delivered by Somerset RFU.
Entries are limited, so please book asap.

Primary Sports Festival

Years 5 & 6

Teams of 4, boys or girls.
Max. 3 teams per school.
Activities will be: Run/Archery, Motiv8 & Dodgeball. Motiv8 is a series of physical games based on the digital equivalent, e.g. Angry birds,temple run, pokemon etc. The emphasis is on simple, fun and active games.

No qualification required.
Participants should be those who haven't represented their school at a school games level 2 competition event.

Primary Swimming & Teacher CPD
*10.30 - 12.30*

Years 5 & 6

Pupils who cannot swim 25m. Maximum of 4 pupils per school. Teachers will be in the pool with their children, learning additional swim teaching techniques.

CPD is aimed at Teachers who have attended module 1 swimming or who are interested in Swim Teaching at their school. Training will be tailored to the experience of those teachers attending.
