Move More and Live Longer Better

A workshop package has been developed by SASP for workforces in the voluntary and community sectors, health, housing and social care around how to have meaningful and positive conversations about physical activity within their everyday roles. The objective is to support workplaces to have meaningful conversations about physical activity with older adults and people living with health conditions.

Move More and Live Longer Better workshops cover the following key areas:

  1. National activity guidelines.
  2. The importance and benefits of physical activity.
  3. National and local activity levels.
  4. How older people can stay active to avoid the disability threshold.
  5. Local falls prevention resources.
  6. Barriers to physical activity and suggestions to overcome them.
  7. Behaviour change and goal setting
  8. SASP's active ageing and health development offer.

Ongoing support will be available to workforces following workshop completion and the workshop is supplemented by a resource with useful hints and tips and links to further reading and signposting opportunities.

If you are a Health Coach or Connector, please see our bespoke training 'Move More for Health Coaches' delivered by our Social Prescribing Manager at SASP. This training is specific to the role of a Health Coach but elements of Move More and Live Longer Better will also be covered. Please email: healthandwellbeingBW@sasp.co.uk to express an interest.
